Workers' Compensation Fund

The Georgia EMC's Workers' Compensation Fund writes workers' compensation coverage for Georgia cooperatives and affiliated organizations. Its primary purpose is to provide affordable workers' compensation insurance to its members and to support its members in their workers' compensation needs.

The fund maintains a close working relationship with fund members while coordinating a worker's compensation claim. This active involvement ensures claims are being handled in a manner that benefits both the injured employee, as well as the best interests of the fund member.

The Georgia EMC's Workers' Compensation Fund is a non-profit, self-insured group fund formed in 1982. It was formed under Georgia Code, Title 34, Labor and Industrial Relations, Chapter 9, Workers, Compensation. Generally stated, the purpose of this legislation was:

To provide an alternative mechanism through which bona fide members of trade and professional associations may extend workers' compensation benefits to their employees through group self-insurance programs. This alternative is authorized to enable the members of these groups to lower workers' compensation costs by reducing administrative expenses and to encourage a reduction in claims through active loss prevention, loss control, and rehabilitation programs.

Please contact the Worker's Compensation Fund staff if you need assistance.
